Registration & local rules
Renting your cottage legally, set up properly.
In Quebec, cottages rented to tourists for 31 days or less need a CITQ registration number, and your municipality must confirm that zoning allows it. Rules differ from one municipality to the next. We check your address and guide you through each step before your first guest.
- 1Check your municipalityWhether zoning allows short-term rentals at your address.
- 2Register with the CITQWe help you prepare and submit your registration.
- 3Display it everywhereYour number goes on every listing and ad, as the law requires.

Cottage rental management FAQ
Can I still use my cottage?
Yes. Block your dates in the owner calendar any time. Dates already booked by guests stay in place, so we suggest planning your stays early.
Do I need a registration number to rent my cottage?
Yes. In Quebec, every stay of 31 days or less requires a registration number from the CITQ, whether you rent your cottage once a year or every weekend. A cottage that isn’t your main home is registered as a general tourist accommodation establishment. To get the number, you need a notice of compliance from your municipality confirming that zoning allows it, proof of at least $2 million in liability insurance, and the registration fee. The number is valid for 12 months and must be renewed each year. Your number and its expiry date must appear on every listing and ad, and the certificate must be posted at the cottage. We help you check your municipality’s rules, prepare the application and keep your renewals on time.
How do your fees work?
We charge a percentage of your booking revenue, so we only earn when your cottage earns. The rate depends on the package you choose and your property. We’ll give you an exact quote on your free call.
Who cleans and maintains the cottage?
Our local teams, experienced with cottages and chalets, handle cleaning, laundry and maintenance with full-service management. With co-hosting, your own cleaner does the on-site work and we coordinate with them.
Which areas do you cover?
We manage cottages and chalets within about 100 km of Ottawa–Gatineau. That covers the City of Gatineau, Les Collines-de-l’Outaouais, the MRC de Pontiac, Papineau and the southern part of La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, plus Ontario cottage country west and south of Ottawa. Not sure if your cottage is in range? Ask us.
